An Official Introduction to You
Feb 07, 2019Well, it has been a while… but ‘good things come to those who wait’, as the saying goes, although I have a few things to say about that, I think it is a topic for another article.
In the last article, I mentioned that what you see in the outside world is a reflection of who you are (being) at that moment in time. If you missed it, you can find it here. Before I start delving into what causes who you are BEING at any given time, I want to first introduce you to your official self, right down at a basic level. Are you ready for it?
Human beings are made of three main elements: The Body - our physical form, The Mind-the will and the emotions and finally the Spirit.
First one is self-explanatory, as the Body, the physical form is the vehicle that carries the other two elements and although in today’s world our physical form is the foundation of many conversations, or most of the time, the fact that one starts or not; it is the least important part of who you are. Yes, you heard that right! Your body and physical appearance is the least important part of who you are, even if you are a top model. This will become clear soon. Just read on…
Your Mind carries with it the free will you have and the emotions you experience. All your thoughts pop into your mind, when triggered by an event, a person, a word etc. and these thoughts trigger certain emotions, often resulting in uncontrolled actions (reactions) and undesired outcomes. When was the last time you controlled any thought popping into your head? Probably NEVER, because you cannot control what comes into your head. However, you CAN control what you focus on; and what you focus on is what you feel (I have a great exercise for this inside my Facebook group. Click here to join now).
Your Free Will (which is part of your mind) is your ability to choose what you focus on. You have a choice in focusing on the bad thoughts or good ones. Sadly, most people are not even aware of this. They believe that just because a thought came into their head that this is true, and they focus on that thought without even questioning/establishing whether this is true or not. It is so important as mature and balance adults that you are able to filter the thoughts that come into your head; choose to focus on the ones that are based on truth and dismiss those that are not.
I have been talking a lot about emotions and if left unattended, how they could lead to undesirable outcomes (see articles 1, 2 and 3). Every thought that comes into your head has an emotional attachment to it. If you focus on that specific thought, you focus, naturally, on the feelings that come with that thought and therefore what you focus on is what you feel. Good news is that, as you have the free will to choose your thoughts, you can choose the thoughts that are associated with good feelings and focus on those more and can eventually become happy. Well, easier said than done, but you have to start from somewhere.
So, what is Spirit, the third part of you? Spirit is where your core is. It is where all your character traits and your values sit. Spirit is the part that makes you WHO you are. This is why I was saying earlier that your body, the physical vehicle that drives your spirit and your mind, is the least important part of you. Whatever religious or non-religious belief you might have, your spirit is the one thing that makes you who you are at your core, and arguably, even after your body ‘dies’ your spirit never really does.
Can you imagine a world where you are so in peace with who you are, and you can choose your thoughts so wisely that when you look in the mirror you don’t just FEEL happy, but you ARE happy, no matter what is going on, on the outside? How amazing would this be?
What if I told you, this is not so out of your reach? ‘It would be incredible!’ I hear you say. If you want to find out more just head over to my Facebook group now and start the journey of discovering who you actually are at the core.
Moreover, do you want to see how this awareness can help you in your daily life and the changes that could be possible for you just implementing a few of the strategies I talk about? Why not join my Facebook group now and start your transformation?
